LAST night’s Vinery Stud Handicap (1100m) went exactly to script with the race being taken out by a mare raced by the farm’s co-owner Gerry Harvey via a grand-daughter of once permanent boarder and Vinery mare, Lady Jakeo.
The cleverly named Mrs Onassis is by the dual Group 1 winner General Nediym out of Miss Jakeo, a daughter of the 1993 Blue Diamond winner.
Mrs Onassis is trained by Gerald Ryan and was heavily backed to win last night’s race having scored a dominant 4-lens win at Gosford at her last start.
It could have been an even better night for Harvey had More Than Ready rig Prisengracht been able to salute in a previous race but had to settle to second after missing the start and racing handy early.
