DUBLEO’S spectacular run of success this May continued when promising filly Double Fun streaked away to record another 3.5-lens in yesterday’s Bath Stewart Associates Handicap (1200m) at Tamworth.

The Greg Bennett-trained 3YO has won 2 races and been runner-up twice from only five starts and looks destined for a trip to town before too long.

”I think she is a stakes filly in the making for sure,” Bennett has said. ”She is doing it at the moment without really knowing what she’s doing. It’s just a (matter of) harnessing the ability.

”You see a lot of young horses over the years go amiss because people get a bit over excited and say, ‘gee this thing is such and such’ and they throw them in the deep-end a little bit quickly,” Bennett says.

”But I have learnt over the years you can quickly break a horse’s heart if you just throw them in where they are not capable of mentally holding up to it.”

With Double Fun’s triumph added on, Dubleo has now sired 10 winners/placegetters (combined) including a stakeswinner from his last 11 runners reflecting his extraordinary consistency and underlining his value at only $6,600 inc GST this year.
