MULTIPLE Champion sire More Than Ready is racing towards his 100th individual stakeswinner adding two more to his tally in the space of 24 hours including Buster’s Ready – a new Grade 1 winner of the prestigious Mother Goose Stakes at Belmont Park.

Buster’s Ready, a filly housed by More Than Ready’s trainer Todd Pletcher, finished 4 1/4-lens ahead of the odds-on favourite Joyful Victory who had previously run fourth in the Kentucky Oaks.

”She’s been steadily improving all winter,” Pletcher said of Buster’s Ready. ”She’s a filly we always felt wanted more distance.

Pletcher said Buster’s Ready turned the corner with a second-place finish in the Grade 2 Black-Eyed Susan at Pimlico.

”She’s kind of finding her rhythm now,” he said. ”She’s putting it all together.”

Buster’s Ready’s major comes hot on the heels of Scone colt Mahisara’s breakthrough win in the Listed Australia Post Stakes at Eagle Farm.

The efforts of each horse increases More Than Ready’s tally of global stakeswinners to 87 which has come around remarkably quickly according to Vinery Stud’s Conor Phelan.

”More Than Ready progeny are comfortable on any surface, wet or dry, turf or dirt and are proven to win Stakes races from 1000m to 2400m from two to seven year of age,” Phelan says.

”I think that’s why he has been able to sire so many stakeswinners in such a short time because his horses are so versatile and can adapt on raceday and fulfill their potential.”

Once More Than Ready reaches the century of stakeswinners he will be part of an elite club which includes Sadler’s Wells, Mr Prospector, Storm Cat, Sunday Silence, Danehill, Danzig, Northern Dancer, Sir Tristram, Zabeel and Vinery’s own foundation sire Red Ransom.
