New Zealand two-year-old Gotham has been sold to continue his career in Hong Kong.
The Onemorenomore youngster will join the stable of Kiwi expat Paul O’Sullivan. “It’s sad to see this guy head off,” trainer Emma-Lee Browne said. “But I’m certain Hong Kong will love him.”
Gotham (2g Onemorenomore – Krysia by Elvstroem) will start his new career as a maiden after four starts this season for Browne and her father Jeff McVean. He was fourth on debut at Otaki in November before going down a head to Dal Cielo at Ellerslie on Boxing Day.
Luck deserted Gotham in his final two starts at Ellerslie. He was blocked for a run until the furlong but found the line strongly to run fifth behind Hardline in the Karaka Million. Then he was galloped on and hampered again when sixth in the G1 Diamond Stakes.
Gotham was purchased for $65,000 at the 2014 NZB Premier yearling sale and he’s bred to get over ground as a three year-old. His dam is a half-sister to McVean’s 2001 New Zealand Derby winner Leica Guv.
Onemorenomore has sired the winners of 50 races in Australia this season which puts him on third place behind I Am Invincible and Nicconi on the second-season premiership. He brought up the half-century when One More Daisy broke her maiden by five lengths at Balaklava on Wednesday.
One More Daisy is raced by Finniss Equine owner-trainer Bill Francis and she is also bred to keep improving next season. Her dam Dancescape (Danehill Dancer) is a full-sister to Shrewd Rhythm (G3 Blue Diamond Prelude) and a three-quarter sister to Blur (G2 Caulfield Sprint).
Onemorenomore produced another promising two year-old when his unraced pocket-rocket Nicosia won a Warwick Farm trial on Friday morning. His dam Cover Charge (General Nediym) won in Adelaide for Peter Horwitz and she is a half-sister to stakes winners Classy Dane and Zester.
Vinery is standing Onemorenomore for a $6,600 (inc GST) fee this year.
