ANOTHER son of More Than Ready has retired to stud with Gr.1 winner Gimmethegreenlight given a unanimous stamp of approval by South African breeders when he was paraded in front of a huge crowd at Varsfontein Stud, during a recent open day.
The Australian bred galloper w on six races – four at two – from 1000m to a Mile highlighted by the Kenilworth Queen’s Plate – G1.
Gimmethegreenlight was placed in the Greyville Premier’s Champion Stakes – G1 Kenilworth J&B Metropolitan H – G1 and fourth in the Greyville Golden Horseshoe and Kenilworth Cape Guineas, both of them Group 1’s.
“We loved this horse and we dearly wanted to stand him. We bought ten shares and we were going to buy more but, with so many breeders also wanting him, we had to scale down.” Varsfontein’s owner Susan Rowett said.
Rowett revealed that already there were 110 confirmed bookings to the stallion for his first season.
Gimmethegreenlight was sold to prominent owner Hassen Adams for $155,000 at the 2009 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale from the Vinery Stud draft.
The colt is a half-brother to Coolmore Classic winner and Mossman daughter, Ofcourseican.
“More Than Ready is destined to be a success as a sire of sires,” says Vinery’s Conor Phelan,”one of his first sons that went to stud in the southern hemisphere (Perfectly Ready) was Champion First Season Sire in New Zealand and already there are very positive vibes about some of his other sons at stud not to mention our on faith and investment in More Than Ready’s Breeders’ Cup winning son, Pluck, who starts serving in a few weeks time.”
