EXCITES’ epic broodmare Staging enhanced her reputation as a blue hen par excellence, this time via one of her daughters.

Flying Spur mare Succeeding was Staging’s first foal and thus predates Group 1 trio of colts turned stallions namely Excites, Duporth and Tickets.

Succeeding visited Encosta de Lago in her first two seasons at stud producing colts both times, the first of which was exported to Hong Kong, the other found a home in South Africa.

That colt, Delago Deluxe, is one of the republic’s rising stars unbeaten in three runs including the Group 3 Protea Stakes (1100m) and last Saturday’s Group 2 South African Nursery Plate (1160m).

Delago Deluxe was sold to Charles Laird for $550,000 at the 2010 Magic Millions Yearling sale on the Gold Coast.

”Clearly this guy in an outstanding racehorse,” says Vinery’s Adam White and another feather in the cap of Staging who is proving to be something of an Eight Carat.

”She has three sons at stud in the Hunter Valley including Excites who has made a fantastic start to his stud career here at Vinery.”
