EXCITES two-year-old Red Excitement earned himself a crack at this month’s prestigious Black Opal Stakes (1200m) after posting an emphatic victory in the nation’s capital on the weekend.
Trained at nearby Queanbeyan by Neville Layt, Red Excitement was able to overcome a wide draw in the 1000m scamper to record a comfortable 1.3-lens win.
As well as confirmation of Red Excitement’s undoubted talent, the victory carried significant rewards for connections who pocketed an extra $50,000 Inglis bonus taking his overall earnings to $75,700.
That is more than double what Glenn and Viive Williams of Karuta Queen fame paid for the colt at the Inglis Classic Yearling sale in 2011.
Excites, a son of Danewin and champion mare Staging, has enjoyed an extraordinarily fruitful past few weeks including the impressive return of first crop 3yo Potluck in Sydney as well as Perth 3YO Flag Officer’s recent stakes placing.
