BUYERS have limited opportunity to tag along with the burgeoning reputation Vinery resident Excites who is represented by just one youngster at the upcoming Inglis Premier Yearling sale at Oaklands.
First season sire, Excites has made a portentous start to his stud career with three winners from his only three starters so far.
His results off the track have been just as prosperous, including a new highest price of $150,000 for a yearling at the recent Perth Magic Millions sale.
Lot 102 from Bell River Thoroughbred’s is on offer at Oaklands next Monday week will mark another high point in the young stallion’s career.
“She is a lovely filly,” Bell River Stud manager Andrew Ferguson told Sportsman.
“She’s always been a nice filly right the way through and is just a lovely big scopey filly.”
Bell River’s filly is a daughter of easy Moonee Valley 2yo winner Luminary, an Encosta de Lago sister to stakeswinner, Examination, from the family of Alcove (AJC Oaks).
“Ian Macpherson from Inglis came out and had a look at the filly which at the time was borderline to get into the Premier sale but as soon as he saw her, she got in pretty comfortably,” said Ferguson.
“Timing is everything in this game and since Ian saw her, Excites has had three runners for three winners. I think Vinery are pretty excited too about the stallion.
“I only saw him this year about August/September and was a bit blown away,” Ferguson said.
“He exceeded my expectations on type – he is just and outstanding stallion to look at.
“I’m a bit particular about where I go and what I go and see.
“Normally I wouldn’t send a mare unless I’d seen the stallion, but in Luminary’s case I just liked Excites’ pedigree.
“I’m going back to him this year – and probably with a couple of mares.”
A Gr.1 2yo, Excites is the only sire son of the sub-fertile stallion star, Danewin and is the elder half brother of new stallions Duporth and Tickets.
“Excite’s perfect record is testament to the quality of stock he has produced, he is achieving great results on the track already and that is quickly translating to success in the sales ring” Vinery Conor Phelan said.
