GOLDEN Slipper placegetter Elite Falls has been the subject of considerable support from punters ahead of her return to racing in tomorrow’s Group 3 Silver Shadow Stakes (1300m) at Warwick Farm.
The John O’Shea trained filly has been backed from an opening quote of $3.40 into $2.70 with TAB Sportsbet after some sensational trackwork during the week according to Randwick clocker Craig Tompson.
”Elite Falls is a filly that does look quite tuned up for her return tomorrow and it’s hard to imagine her not being in the finish,” he writes in today’s copy of Sportsman.
”She mixed it consistently with the top juveniles last season and she’s lost nothing as she’s been building up for her three year-old campaign.
”On Tuesday morning she worked over 600m on the Course Proper in 38.5 seconds, and finished with the fastest last 200m of the day in 11.7 seconds.”
Another factor weighing heavily in the More Than Ready daughter’s favour is the likelihood of a wet track at the Farm which is already rated a heavy 8 with the forecast of more rain on raceday. More Than Ready progeny are adept in all conditions and wet tracks do not seem to be a hinderance.
Elite Falls’ only start on a slow track saw her charge past constant rival Satin Shoes to win the Group 2 Reisling Stakes (1200m) going away.
”She’s worked ‘super’ on Tuesday and the prospect of a rain-affected track plays into her hands,” says trainer John O’Shea.
