DUBLEO gelding Happy Valley ran right up his recent 8-lens trial win when racing away from his rivals to score an easy debut win at Goulburn this afternoon.
Star jockey Hugh Bowman made a rare trip to a country meeting to steer the Matthew Smith trained galloper to victory.
Happy Valley showed tremendous pace to lead the field and while he was momentarily challenged at the 250m, his superior quality shone through a she powered away from the other to win by in excess of 2-lens.
Happy Valley is out of a grand-daughter of Mr Prospector son Machiavellian from an Anabaa mare whose five foals to race are all winners.
“It’s clear this horse is full of promise and natural talent,” says Vinery’s Conor Phelan, “he look capable of repaying the connections patience and dedication.”
“Guy Walter and John O’Shea has shown before that a lot of good horses have kicked off at Goulburn and you’d think Happy Valley has more wins in store and in town.”
