DUBLEO gelding Double Crescent showed his typical tenacity when he broke through for another brave win under a big weight in yesterday’s Bill Turner Memorial Handicap (2300m) at Newcastle.

It was the sixth win of Double Crescent’s career together with 16 placings (10 of them seconds) and earnings of close to $120,000.

The six-year-old was burdened with topweight of 59kg in the staying test given placings at his past three runs in the lead-in including consecutive seconds at the provincials.

Double Crescent is the first foal of a grey coloured palace Music mare named Silver Crescent who visited Dubleo at Vinery every year from 2006 until 2010.

Her 2007 foal, Double Crest, also trained by Todd Howlett, has raced 11 times from 2 wins and 2 seconds.
