Vinery champion More Than Ready and Snowden Racing completed winning doubles at Randwick on Saturday when Nayeli scored a last-stride victory in the G3 City Tatts Nivison (1200m).
The former Gai Waterhouse trained mare was having her first start for Peter and Paul Snowden. She switched off the fence turning for home and finished resolutely to rein in Peace Force right on the line.
“She travelled nicely and I was confident in the run,” jockey Josh Parr said. “Peace Force dragged us into the race and she let down to just get there.”
Nayeli (4m More Than Ready – Wasimah by Danehill) is raced by Greg and Donna Kolivos after being knocked down for $260,000 at the 2013 Inglis Easter yearling sale. They named her after an American Indian word meaning ‘I love you’.
The Nivison was her third at black-type level and her residual value has sky-rocketed following earlier wins in the G3 Chairman’s Stakes at Caulfield and LR Fireball Stakes at Randwick.
Her dam Wasimah is owned by Corumbene Stud’s George Altomonte and is a three-quarter sister to Kaphero. She foaled a More Than Ready colt last year and was then bred back to him at Vinery.
More Than Ready sired the first-leg of his Randwick double with promising colt Montauk and the Snowdens had trained Mossman sprinter Dothraki to win the LR City Tatts Lightning.
