PUNTERS have launched into Vinery Stud resident Myboycharlie to be Australia’s leading freshman sire this season sending his quote tumbling from $21 into $11 after not even being listed in early markets.

Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan confirmed that Myboycharlie has been the biggest mover since the market was released last week.

“Myboycharlie’s progeny are expected to be early running types and could feature heavily in the 2yo races,” he said.

“He’s been the subject of a few decent bets and is now an outright fourth favourite.”

A former Champion 2YO himself, Myboycharlie has 2YO’s placed in many of the leading stables around the country including Gai Waterhouse, Peter Moody, David Payne, David Hayes, Gerald Ryan, Anthony Freedman and Mick Price among them.

Myboycharlie was the most profitable first season sire at the MM January Sale and again at the Inglis Premier sale off the back of his firs crop yearlings.  Fellow Vinery Sire and stable mate, More Than Ready won the first season sires premiership in 2004/05.

Sullivan said it’s shaping up to be the best crop of freshman sires since Fastnet Rock.

“The showdown between Sebring and Northern Meteor will be an intriguing contest as from all reports their progeny are cracking types and they were both early runners on the track themselves,” Sullivan said.

Former smart 2yo Real Saga has been backed from $10 into $7.50 and comes in to play due to the fact most of his progeny will race in Queensland.
