Vinery sire Casino Prince topped the NZB Select yearling sale at Karaka on Wednesday with a colt that made $180,000.
He was purchased by TP Racing agent Danny Rolston from the draft of Waikato Stud. “I bought him for existing clients in Asia,” Rolston said. “He will be educated in New Zealand before commencing his racing career up there.”
Waikato Stud vet Dr Chris Phillips offered the colt who is from Hawkesbury winner Contented (More Than Ready). The mare has a 100% record at stud with the best to date being Singapore Magic Millions National Yearling Sale Stakes winner Jupiter Gold (Congrats).
Phillips bought Contented carrying the Casino Prince colt for $30,000 at the 2015 Magic Millions National Sale. She is a half-sister to the dam of champion sprinter Takeover Target (Celtic Swing).
Casino Prince (Flying Spur) continues to carve out a stud career as a prolific winner-getter. He sired 104 individual winners with five crops racing in 2015-16 and will better that figure with 66 winners already this season.
Melbourne mare Domino Vitale is his leading earner this term and she is on a hat-trick for Caulfield trainer Colin Little after wins at Moonee Valley and Flemington in January.
There are further opportunities to source Casino Prince yearlings at the upcoming Inglis Classic and Inglis Melbourne Premier Sales. His filly from Fudge Delight (Lot 751) at Oaklands is a sister to Fudged who won again at Sandown on Xmas Eve. Another Casino Prince filly in the family is G2 Tea Rose Stakes winner Longport.
