BIG Brown’s reputation in Japan continues to grow after first crop son Voodoo Fest broke his Maiden at Hanshin on Friday.

The Kentucky bred colt made light work of his 14 rivals streaking to a 2 1/2-lens win under jockey Yusuke Fujioka.

Bred by national giants Shadai Corporation, Voodoo Fest is bred on a cross easily emulated in Australia being out of a daughter of the great Danehill.

Voodoo Fest’s win comes hot on the heels of another win for local star Apollo Sonic who is destined to contest the Group 1 Satsuka Sho (2000m) at Nakayama next weekend.

Meanwhile in the USA, Big Brown’s initial stakeswinner Brown Almighty turned in a fabulous first-up effort when fourth in the Grade 3 Transylvania Stakes (1/16m) at Keeneland in Kentucky.
