KENTUCKY Derby and Preakness Stakes winner Big Brown sired his 10th southern hemisphere winner from his first crop when the Gai Waterhouse trained Muscovado won the ITC Rydges Campbelltown Handicap (1300m) at Kembla on Saturday.
The Denise Martin owned filly was bred by John Singleton’s Strawberry Hills and sold for $120,000 at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale.
Muscovado is out of Waterhouse’s triple Group 2 winning Zeditave mare, On Type, whose wins include the Surround Stakes, Premiere Stakes and the Shannon Stakes.
On Type has developed into a notable broodmare among Singleton’s exclusive harem having previously delivered the Group 3 winner Sugar Babe.
Big Brown is on the cusp of 100 individual winners around the world with winners in North and South America, Asia, Europe, the UK and Ireland as well as both here in Australia and New Zealand.
Big Brown’s ten antipodean winners includes the handy South Australian filly, Wroclaw, who has been stakes-placed at both her runs to date.
