More Than Ready gelding, Better Be The One, continues to fly the flag for Australia returning from Dubai to Singapore to beat all but local hero Rocket Man.
Since then, the four-year-old finished a short-head third behind J.J. The Jetplane in the Group 2 Al Quoz in Dubai before chasing Rocket Man back home in Singapore on Sunday in the Lion City Sprint.
“This gelding has always been a high class horse” says Vinery Stud’s Conor Phelan,
Trained locally by Mark Kavanagh, Better Be The One raced here as Common Interest before heading to Michael Freedman’s Singapore stables and changing names. He won his first Stakes race at just his second start beating the likes of Starspangledbanner in the Listed VRC Festival of Racing Stakes.
When asked if there is a horse in the world that could test Black Caviar, most people throw up name’s like J.J. The Jetplane and/or Rocket Man as hopefuls.
”And Better Be The One almost beat one of them and ran second to the other in consecutive starts. It’s incredible.” Phelan commented.
Better Be The One will be given the opportunity to turn the tables on Rocket Man and some of the world’s best sprinters when she contests the S$1 million KrisFlyer at Kranji on May 20.
