BENICIO gelding Benny’s Halo can sure up his Karakatta Plate credentials by winning tomorrow’s Listed Perth Stakes (1100m) and keeping his unbeaten record intact.
The locally trained youngster has strung together two impressive wins ahead of his first foray into Stakes company and looks well up the task.
”He finished all over the top of them at his first start at 16/1 and proved it was no fluke when he came out and did it in similar style there at Ascot two weeks later,” Vinery’s Conor Phelan said.
”Benny’s Halo has had 27-days between runs so he’ll be fresh to run the 1100m again, but I have a feeling that once he gets to 1200m in the Karakatta Plate and eventually 1400m and the mile next preparation that we might see a dominant horse emerge.”
Benny’s Halo is the first foal of Shovhog mare Bekisharp.
”More Than Ready is fast becoming a very noteworthy sire of sires with Perfectly Ready being the leading First Season Sire in Australia/New Zealand combined.
”And now there is a very strong chance that another one of More Than Ready’s sons (Benicio) is about to sire a stakeswinner.”
