EXCITING Benicio two-year-old and pre-post favourite Benny’s Halo has fared particularly well after yesterday’s official barrier draw for the Group 2 WATC Karrakatta Plate to be run at Ascot on Saturday.
The brilliant son of Benicio drew barrier 8 in the 20-horse field but will jump from six if the four emergencies are the ones to miss out.
“That is just about where you want to draw in a big field,” says Vinery’s Adam White, “so he should get the ideal run from there.”
“The key to this horse is to step up to 1200m. He ran out of ground last start in the Perth Stakes over 1100m, had it been 1200m there’s not much doubt he would have won the race.
“This promises to be a high pressure race and it’ll take a horse that is strong at the finish and probably hasn’t done too much work early. it will be a good stepign stone towards the $500,000 Sire’s Produce (1400m)”
