TALENTED Benicio stayer Cuban Sunday makes his return to racing this weekend at Ballarat after his Autumn Carnival culminated in black type at Caulfield.
The Mick Priced trained stayer has so far won four times from 10 appearances including an easy 1.8-lens win on debut at Sale over 1213m and a close third in the Listed MRC Galilee Final over 2406m.
He went on to add victories at Kyneton then Sandown-Lakeside and Caulfield prior to his sterling performance in the Galilee Final.
”Sunday’s 1200m race is going to be short to see his best and it’s a quality field but quality stayers have a habit of sprinting well fresh,” Vinery Stud’s Conor Phelan said.
”It’s most likely a case of whatever he does, he is going to improve on but he could surprise, he’s got no weight and Michael Walker is an outstanding jockey.”
