TASMANIAN filly Seeking Chi is expected to cross the Bass Strait on a frequent basis given her sterling ‘mainland’ debut win on Wednesday at Cranbourne.

The daughter of VRC Derby winner and More Than Ready son Benicio came away to record a stunning victory in the NP Distribution Showcase (1600m) for trainer Charlie Goggin.

Seeking Chi now boasts four wins and a further seven placings from her 15 start career and gives every indication she’ll continue her impressive strike rate.

”coming off an Oaks prep, she bolted in an Launceston on April 14 over 2100m leading into her win over a mile on Wednesday,” Vinery’s Conor Phelan noted.

”It’s not easy to come back in distance and add to that the fact that she was racing travelling for the first time, it makes her effort all the more meritorious.

”She is with a leading trainer who knows how to win races inside and outside of Tasmania so you can bet that he has a plan mapped out for her.”

Seeking Chi has won from 1000m to 2000m and is from the first crop fo Benicio’s which are currently 3yo’s.  This initial crop includes Mick Price’s emerging Stakes placed stayer Cuban Sunday whilst Benicio’s second crop has already unearthed the brilliant W.A 2yo Benny’s Halo which was narrowly beaten in the $500,000 Karrakatta Plate last month.
