TRAINER Barry Campbell has some decisions to make about the future plans of star Tasmanian 3YO Admiral in the wake of another stunning effort at Launceston on New Year’s Eve.
The son of Mossman treated his nine rivals with utter contempt as he streaked away to win the 1400m Open by 4.3-lens.
Admiral has now won seven of his nine starts with two placings.
”He was impressive tonight and he is only going to get better,” Campbell told Tas Racing.
“We will take him to Hobart in 10 days for the Tasmanian Guineas and then we have to decide whether we go to the Derby (2100m) or have a crack at the weight-for-age Thomas Lyons (1400m) on Hobart Cup day.”
Admiral was last season’s undisputed Champion 2YO on the island thanks to win in thr Gold Sovereign Stakes and Elwick Stakes as well as the Autumn 2YO Classic and Sires’ Produce Stakes (by 3.5-lens).
Admiral is the second foal of West Quest mare Reunification who won 12 races in Tasmania and was stakes placed there on three occasions.
