All Too Hard’s promising 2yo fillies Dream Of The Moon and Hard Attack will both graduate to Stakes company next time out across the Tasman.
His Te Akau Racing filly Dream Of The Moon would typically have already owned black-type after bolting in at Riccarton Park on Wednesday. She won the Halls 2YO Premier (1000m) to become the ninth Te Akau winner of the race which was previously known as the Welcome Stakes.
Apart from being rebranded, it was downgraded this year losing its Listed status which was on the cards following a further drop in prizemoney to $65,000.
Dream Of The Moon won’t be long graduating and, if she stays in work, the Te Akau team will target the Wakefield Challenge (Gr.2, 1100m) at Trentham on December 9. “Her work on Saturday was super and we were quietly confident,” co-trainer Sam Bergerson said. “She still did a little bit wrong, so there’s still plenty of improvement there.
“We give her a break now or head home via the Wakefield at Wellington.”
Dream Of The Moon (2f All Too Hard – Moonchild by Charge Forward) was bred and sold by Glenbeigh Farm owners Denis Griffin and Kerry Stephens for $160,000 at this year’s Gold Coast Magic Millions Yearling Sale.
Byerley Park trainer Steven Cole is also looking forward to a black-type return for his All Too Hard 2yo filly Hard Attack. She will race first-up in the Counties Challenge Stakes (LR, 1100m) at Pukekohe on Saturday week, November 25.
Hard Attack hasn’t been seen since going down in a head-bobber on debut at Wanganui in September. “She was very impressive that day because I hadn’t done a whole lot with her,” Cole said on Thursday. “She had a jump-out at Pukekohe last week and we’ve been very happy with her progress since coming back into work.
“She’s a strong filly with the right attitude and will qualify for the Karaka Millions (RL, 1200m) in January if she runs in the first three at Pukekohe.”
Hard Attack (2f All Too Hard – Vitriolic Attack by Lope De Vega) was bred and sold by Westbury Stud’s Gerry Harvey for $100,000 at this year’s NZB National Yearling Sale, Book 1. Cole races her with his wife Tash, father Des and local dairy farmer Oliver Milne.
All Too Hard’s winning strike rate in New Zealand is soaring at 72% and his top-class 3yo filly Viva Vienna can earn more black-type in the NZ 1000 Guineas (Gr.1, 1600m) at Riccarton this Saturday.
Vinery stands All Too Hard for $38,500 (inc GST) payable on a live foal. For bookings or further information, contact Adam White (0414 800 918) or Harry Roach (0401 970 006).
