Perfect Reflection and Zindaya grabbed Group 2 victories for Vinery champion More Than Ready in Perth and LA on Saturday.
Local racegoers welcomed Perfect Reflection back to winning form in the G2 Lee-Steere Stakes (1400m). A homebred for Bob & Sandra Peters, she won the G1 Kingston Town Classic at Ascot last December but didn’t fire on a subsequent away trip to Melbourne.
Bookmakers have installed her a $5 favourite for the G1 Railway Stakes on November 19 and she’s also a $7 market-leader for a second G1 Kingston Town Classic on December 3.
Perfect Reflection broke through the million-dollar mark in earnings with a half-length decision over fellow Peters homebred and Grant and Alana Williams-trained stablemate Disposition (Reset) in the Lee-Steere Stakes. “It’s good to see her regain form she showed here 12 months ago,” Peters said. “We were worried after she ran last in the Australian Guineas but the vets couldn’t detect any problems.
“She’s on target for the carnival now – that’s the main thing.”
Perfect Reflection is the third stakes winner for More Than Ready and Bluebird mare Reflected Image following New Image (LR Belmont Oaks) and Ideal Image (LR Burgess Queen Stakes).
Peters raced Reflected Image to a Group 2 victory in the 1999 WA Oaks.
More Than Ready’s classy sprinter-miler Zindaya won the G2 Goldikova Stakes (1600m) at Santa Anita on Saturday’s Breeders’ Cup undercard.
“I had a perfect trip,” jockey Javier Castellano said. “I was on the rail and kept saving ground. It worked out great and when we swung out at the top of the lane, she gave me a powerful kick.”
Zindaya had previously won at Listed level in the Licence Fee Stakes and Intercontinental Stakes at Belmont Park as part of an overall 16: 6-4-3 career-card for earnings of $550,000. Her dam Aristocratic Lady (Kris S.) has also foaled G1 Jamaica Hcp winner Western Aristocrat (Mr. Greeley).
