Vinery sires Casino Prince and his son All Too Hard were both in demand at the Inglis Melbourne Premier yearling sale this week.
The first Casino Prince to change hands at Oaklands was the colt from Flemington Group 3 winner Sophie’s Spirit (Invincible Spirit). Entered by Gilgai Farm and sold as Lot 358, he made $260,000 to the bid of Ciaron Maher.
“I love him. He’s just a cracking type for a first foal and the farm has the runs on the board,” Maher said. “I really like the way he’s put together.”
Maher bought G1 Victorian Oaks winner Jameka from Gilgai at the 2014 Melbourne Premier. The daughter of Vinery sire Myboycharlie will take on the colts in the G1 Australian Guineas back at Flemington this Saturday.
All Too Hard topped the first-season averages at Melbourne Premier and his filly from Melbourne Cup legend Makybe Diva was best-priced at $300,000 when purchased by Tony McEvoy.
“I’ve seen all Makybe Diva’s progeny,” McEvoy said. “And I rate this one as a dead-set ‘mini me’ of the great mare.”
All Too Hard sold 16 lots at $143,125 to finish on top of Pierro ($138,571) at Oaklands.
