VINERY sire Dubleo is well placed to collect a rare 3-state metropolitan double this weekend in the days after his stakes-placed son Queenian won at Warwick Farm in Sydney.
Queenian was a high class 2 and 3YO of his generation with placings in the Kindergarten Stakes, Up & Coming Stakes and the Rosebud in between.
Now six and having overcome injury, Queenian is housed with astute Warwick Farm trainer Matthew Smith who saddled him up to a most impressive and emphatic 1.3-lens in the final event of Wednesday’s Sydney metro meeting.
Queenian’s victory sees his earnings go well past the $200,000 mark.
As mentioned, Dubleo is staring down the prospect of a hat-trick of individual winners when Two Blue contests the ATC Sportsyear Sprint (1200m) at Rosehill while Silversands and Double Pockets are considered among the leading contenders in their respective races at Morphettville in Adelaide.
Silversands, who is nominated for the Group 1 MRC Thousand Guineas, will take a power of beating when she resumes in the SAJC Welcome Back Mick Handicap (1050m) having proven her class in the MVRC Inglis Banner (1000m) on Cox Plate Day last year.
