All Too Hard took centre stage on Day 1 of the Gold Coast Magic Millions yearling sale on Wednesday.
The Vinery sire kept bid-spotters busy right through the opening session with 14 lots totalling $3.50 million, which was only bettered in the overall rankings by Snitzel.
All Too Hard averaged $250,000, the highest by far of all the first-season sires. Those returns gave breeders a lucrative return off a $66,000 service fee in 2013.
Next best among first-season sires was Pierro who averaged $136,250.
Top price on Day 1 was the All Too Hard filly from Factor Of Safety (Encosta de Lago) that made $510,000 to James Harron Bloodstock. She was offered by Woodside Park Stud and is closely related to Gathering (G1 Railway Stakes) and Niagara (G2 Ajax Stakes).
“She’s a lovely, strong, athletic filly and I bought her for a private client,” Harron said. “She looks a precocious type.
“All Too Hard was a fantastic racehorse and he’s got a great pedigree. The Flying Spur sireline is renowned for top-class fillies and this one is all quality.”
Harron purchased this Saturday’s Magic Millions 2YO Classic favourite Capitalist for $165,000 at last year Magic Millions.
Top price among the All Too Hard colts was the $300,000 half-brother to Melbourne Group 3 winner Serene Majesty. He was purchased by David Hayes from Segenhoe Stud for Shadwell Australia. The Lindsay Park trainer prepared their dam Custard (Lonhro) to a Listed victory in the Oaklands Plate in Adelaide.
An All Too Hard – Dreams And Wishes filly from Strawberry Hill Stud also made $300,000 on Wednesday. She was purchased by Peter Carrick’s Lakeview Resources and her dam is a Brisbane winning half-sister to Laisserfaire, Foreplay and Time Thief.
