Lightly-raced mare Celebrity Miss became the 129th stakes-winner by More Than Ready in the LR Bolton Sprint (1200m) at Belmont on Wednesday.

Celebrity Miss (5m More Than Ready – Miss Margaret by Marscay) is a homebred for Bob Peters and she accelerated in the straight to defeat Dominating (Snitzel) by a length without being driven right out.  It increased her strike-rate to 8 wins in 17 starts for over $238,000 in prizemoney.

Peters and his wife Sandra support More Than Ready year after year.  They have bred and raced numerous winners by the Vinery champion headed by Dreamaway (G1 WA Derby) and New Image (LR Belmont Oaks).

“Everything fell into place today,” Peters said.  “It’s pleasing to get black-type – she is a daughter of Miss Margaret and will be a lovely mare to bred from later on.”

Miss Margaret is 21 and has just been pensioned in the Hunter Valley.  She was a Group 1 winner at Flemington and Morphettville and her earlier foals include G2 Karrakatta Plate winner Confront (Bluebird).

“We gave Celebrity Miss plenty of time to mature,” Peters added.  “We looked after her and it’s paying off now.”

More Than Ready leads the Vinery roster – alongside All Too Hard – at a $66,000 (inc gst) fee this year.
