Peter Moody will step Casino Prince mare Sino Eagle back into stakes company after her first-up victory on Saturday.
The classy mare shadowed the leaders before swooping home in the Chris Flavelle Hcp (1200m) at Caulfield.
Sino Eagle scored as a well-supported second-favourite and has now won 6 times in 13 starts. “She’s better than average and we will build on her black-type against mares now,” Moody said. “She’s up and running so that we can have her at the top of her game for those early stakes races.”
Sino Eagle (4m Casino Prince – Vermont Eagle by Octagonal) earned her first black-type when a fading third to Five All and Floria in the G3 Tressady Stakes at Flemington in March. “She’s always been a professional filly,” Moody said. “And she’s got a happy bunch of owners.”
Sino Eagle is owned by members of the Vermont football and cricket clubs based in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs. The same syndicate also raced her dam Vermont Eagle and Moody trainer her to Terang wins in March and April in 2007.
She won on debut at Benalla in February 2013 and that launched further wins at Sandown Caulfield, Moonee Valley and Flemington.
Casino Prince had a bumper crop of three year-olds last season with champion colt All Too Hard winning at Group 1 level in the Caulfield Guineas, Orr Stakes, Futurity Stakes and All Aged Stakes.
After All Too Hard retired to Vinery, those three year-olds maintained that momentum with Sino Eagle and stakes winners Mighty Luck and Star Rolling among an overall tally of 66 winners this season. They have won 119 races and earned $3.06 million.
Star Rolling has been nominated for a return to racing at Moonee Valley this Saturday. He is back on deck after an autumn highlighted by close-up placings behind Chase The Rainbow (G3 Carlyon Cup) and Fiorente (G2 Peter Young Stakes) at Caulfield.
Vinery will stand Casino Prince for a $16,500 (inc gst) fee this year.
