NEWS that champion mare More Joyous delivered her first foal, a filly by Frankel on August 1, is a timely reminder of More Than Ready’s growing success as a broodmare sire.
Worldwide at present, More Than Ready is the sire of 210 winners from 332 starters (63.3 percent) with 17 stakeswinner and 16 stakes placed.
In our region (Australia/NZ), More Than Ready is the sire of 78 winners from 124 starters (62.9 percent) with 5 stakeswinners and 9 stakesplaced.
Of those 5 black-type winners, 3 are Group 1 winners namely Miracles Of Life (Blue Diamond), Rebel Dane (Rupert Clarke) and Atlante (NZ 2000 Guineas).
The remaining two are Magic Millions winner and Testa Rossa son Unencumbered and the valuable Fastnet Rock mare Impetuous (Wyong Mona Lisa Stakes).
More Than ready finished 16th on the 2013/14 National broodmare rankings; an incredible feat given that his 40 winners of $4,589,318 came from just 82 runners, easily the fewest number of starters with the obvious exception of Melbourne Cup winner Fiorente’s broodmare sire, Pilsudski.
