SUPERSIRE More Than Ready has unearthed yet another highly promising juvenile in the shape of the unbeaten French 2YO Nucifera.
The Kentucky Bred colt kicked off his carer with a win at Chantilly over 1400m on June 20 with the Dunaden’s Melbourne Cup winning jockey Christophe-Patrice Lemaire in the saddle.
He was next seen at Compeigne as recently as last Tuesday when showing he was just as adept on soft ground as she was on the firm going at Chantilly.
“Nucifera broke well and sat second for most of this one. Asked to challenge at the quarter-mile marker, the 3-5 chalk took almost two-lengths out of Red Tornado approaching the final eighth, but came under a late rive to hold the renewed effort of that rival by a short neck.
The winner’s dam is a half to G1 National Stakes winner Pathfork and his second dam is a half to Breeders Cup Mile and G1 Irish 2000 Guineas hero Spinning World.
Meanwhile close to home, More Than Ready is perfectly poised for a Rosehill double this weekend when the two last start winners Wonderbolt and Romantic Moon contest separate races.
Wonderbolt, who races in the Makybe Diva colours, swept past his rivals to streak to a 1.8-lens win at the same venue on July 5 while the Gooree owned Romantic Moon beat a quality field of fillies and mares in the ATC Spring Carnival On Sale Bm83 (1500m) 7-days prior.
