UNBEATEN Group 1 winner Husson finished equal 4th Leading Sire by Median at last week’s 2015 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale after a triumphant few days for the Vinery resident.
Husson’s three Session 1 lots sold for a combined total of $380,000 returning an average of $126,667 well above the sale average of $97,003.
The median price for a yearling at the Premier in 2015 was $80,000.
Husson’s median return ($170,000) placed him equal with Foxwedge and below only Beneteau (deceased), Street Cry (deceased) and Fastnet Rock (2012 service fee $220,00).
Husson’s average represents a 5.8 return on his 2012 service fee ($22,000). His 2014 fee was $13.200.
Husson’s top lot at the sale was $180,000 paid for Lot 531, a chestnut colt from Encosta De Lago mare Soorena whose four foals to race include the G2 MVRC Alister Clark Stakes winner Philippi as well as recent VRC Kensington Stakes winner The Quarterback and the stakes-placed The Rude Warrior.
The $180,000 colt was bred and offered by Gilgai Farm who bred and sold both Black Caviar and Vinery’s own four-times G1 winner and resident sire All Too Hard.
Gilgai’s colt eclipsed the $170,000 tag on Lot 415, the bay Husson filly out of More Than Ready‘s G2 AJC Challenge Stakes winner Olonana.
More Than Ready is a broodmare sire of considerable note with his daughters already having delivered Group 1 winner Miracles Of Life, Rebel Dane and Atlante in Australasia alone.
The Premier also proved a mini-triumph for Husson’s associate sire Pluck‘s whose popularity with buyers extended to Oaklands.
Competition was predictably intense on his sole lot, a bay/brown colt out of the Danehill mare Meritous that sold for $75,000 to Race Media, Queensland.
