All of More Than Ready’s recent juvenile success was covered perfectly by Brian Russell Media in his story (below) from Breednet.com.au.
‘When Delawar, a More Than Ready 2YO colt out of the Bradbury’s Luck mare Ringa Ringa Rosie, recorded a smart win at Kembla Grange on debut on March 9, he became the fifth 2YO winner, four of them in stakes races, for the Vinery Stud stalwart in under a fortnight.
Three of the others were stakes winners Always Allison (filly, remained unbeaten from two outings when successful in the G2 Sweet Embrace Stakes at Warwick Farm on February 28) and Haybah (filly, won LR Cinderella Stakes at Morphettville on the same day; close second in two G3’s in Melbourne) and Ready For Victory (colt, debut winner at Flemington in the LR Festival of Racing on March 7).
Also successful in a stakes race, the other More Than Ready juvenile winner was Entisaar, a filly from the Catbird mare Purrpurrlena who made an auspicious start to her racing career in the Listed Ruffian Stakes in South Africa on Saturday.
Bred by Alan Green, a partner in the ownership of the Vinery Stud, Entisaar is one of two Australian sired juvenile winners by More Than Ready in South Africa this year. Also only raced once so far, the other is Big Sugar, a product of the Exceed and Excel mare Sugar Babe.
Another of his 2YO’s, More Than Fabulous, came home like a train from near the rear of an 11 runner field to finish second at Randwick on the March 11 program. An earlier move and he could have been More Than Ready’s sixth juvenile winner in two weeks.
More Than Ready’s current crop of successful juveniles are among 95 individual winners (81 Australia) that have represented his Australian sired progeny so far in the 2014-15 racing year. They have won 150 races (127 Aust) and earned $4.6million ($3.7m Aust) and again put him high up in the statistics by earnings.
Seven of the winners, including two successful on March 7, Ready For Victory and Nayeli, a 3YO filly who won the $125,000 LR Fireball Stakes at Randwick, have won stakes races through the year, also, seven others have been stakes placed.
Retired to stud in both America and Australia, More than Ready has been consistently a leading dual hemisphere sire. Currently his world wide stats are approximately1693 starters for a massive 1240 winners,139 successful in stakes, of 3578 races.
The contribution to these results by his Australian sired progeny is over 600 winners (137 in stakes, 10 Group 1 winners) of 1870 wins and $67.5milion. Collectively, More Than Ready’s 30 yearlings in the Easter catalogue should add substantially to these statistics.
Champion North American Juvenile sire 2010, the leader in this category twice in Australia and twice second on the Australian Sire’s list, More Than Ready was a leading American racehorse at two and three from 5 furlongs to 10 furlongs. His 17 starts included seven wins, including a Group 1 and two at Group 2 level, two Group 1 seconds, a Group 1 third and a fourth in the Kentucky Derby.
He is by the influential Hail to Reason grandson Southern Halo (USA) and from Woodman’s Girl (USA), a winning daughter of Mr. Prospector’s Coolmore shuttled Woodman (USA). More Than Ready’s 14 visits to Vinery have resulted in over 1300 foals so far. He served 123 mares here in 2014, a year his fee was $66,000.’
