FLASHY Husson mare Peron is poised for the biggest win of her career when she lines-up in tomorrow’s Group 1 $500,000 Sky Racing Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) at Eagle Farm.
The daughter of Vinery Stud resident sire Husson is looking to build on her last start fourth in the Group 2 BRC Dane Ripper Stakes over the same course and distance of this weekend’s major.
Peron is a member of Husson’s first crop which saw the unbeaten South American champion sire more individual 2YO winners than any other freshman sire in 2011/12.
Husson finished the season as the runner-up Leading First Season Sire to now associate sire, Casino Prince.
Apart from Peron’s deeds during the current Brisbane winter carnival, the other Husson offspring that has been the flag admirably is chestnut youngster Looks Like The Cat from the all-conquering Tony Gollan stable.
The Queensland-bred 2YO has raced four times for a win and three placings including in the Group 1 BRC J. J. Atkins Stakes (1600m), BRC Sires’ Produce and Champagne Stakes, both with Group 2 status.
Meanwhile, another Vinery resident sire – Dubleo – is in the news courtesy of The Thief who will be aimed at next month’s Listed VRC Victorian Sprint Series Final (1200m) after a polished win at Flemington last Saturday.
The gelding was bred Tim Dennis and his late wife Di who operated Glenwood Stud south-west of Geelong for many years.
They also bred Dubleo Group 3 winner Koonoomoo.
