OAKLANDS Junction is proving to be the happy hunting ground fans of Testa Rossa with a remarkable return on investment for buyers of his stock.
With the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale just weeks away, Testa Rossa’s record at the sale ensures that he will once again be popular with trainers, owners and syndicators.
The former Victorian’s Group 1 winning daughters Ortensia and Rostova were both sold at consecutive Premier sales.
Ortensia was knocked down for $50,000 in 2007 while Rostova changed hands for $80,000 the following year.
Indeed, a total of 15 of Testa Rossa’s current tally of 53 stakes winners are Inglis Premier Yearling Sale graduates.
Testa Rossa is represented by 11 lots one that is tipped to be among the highlights of the entire 2015 sale.
Lot 149 from Fulmen Park as agent is a chestnut son of Testa Rossa out of the Peintre Celebre mare, Famous Painter, who has thrown four winners including Testa Ross filly Sistine Angel and Excites’ Group 3 winner Sistine Demon.
“Testa Rossa is a terrific horse,” Fulmen Park’s Brett Casey told Sportsman,” he’s just been a revelation. Obviously he started down here in Victoria at Yallambee and he was able to move up to the Hunter and climb and climb and climb. They are good to sell and everyone is happy to have one in their stable.”
Testa Rossa has sired stakes winners in every State and Territory in Australia.
A six-times Group 1 winner from 1000m to a mile, Testa Rossa has himself thrown Group 1 winners from 1000m to 2500m and has one of the highest winners-to-runners ratios in the country at 73.2 per cent.
Testa Ross sired his 53rd stakes winner last weekend when Heart Testa took out the Group 3 ATC Southern Cross Stakes, formerly the Frederick Clissold Handicap, at Randwick last Saturday.
