Vinery shuttler Congrats claimed a Top 5 spot on the fillies leader-board at the Barretts 2YO Sale in California this week.
His filly out of Icy Tea – the only Congrats catalogued – made $190,000 to the bid of Narvick International agent Emmanuel De Seroux. Her dam is an unraced three-quarter sister to Habibti (Tabasco Cat) who was a Group 1 winner of the Hollywood Starlet Stakes and Del Mar Debutante.
De Seroux has been a frequent visitor to Barretts 2YO Sales in recent years acting on behalf of Japanese clients. He also bought Top 5 fillies by Take Of The Cat and Broken Vow this year.
Congrats (USA) has another five yearlings catalogued for the upcoming Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale. His first to go under the hammer – a filly from USA stakes performer Belle Cherie Mary – parades as Lot 43 on Sunday.
Vinery champion More Than Ready was also represented at Barretts by a colt that sold for $210,000. He is from Belmont Group 3 performer Aquitaine (Empire Maker) and was sold to Steve Gasparelli who is better known for his drag racing victories at nearby Pomona Speedway.
More Than Ready is represented by five yearlings at Melbourne Premier starting with Lot 22, a filly from Danehill’s G1 Futurity Stakes winner Aqua D’Amore.
