MAGIC Millions winner Unencumbered’s build-up towards next month’s Golden Slipper Stakes looked to be right on target as the son of Testa Rossa blazed away to record a 4.5-lens win at the Rosehill trials last Tuesday morning.
The Bjorn Baker trained colt was allowed to balance up midfield in the 800m heat before peeling out widest of all into the straight.
From that point, Unencumbered let rip with his now customary burst of acceleration to score the most empathic and impressive wins of the morning.
Unencumbered is aiming to be become the first horse to claim the Magic Millions/Golden Slipper double since More Than Ready gelding Phelan Ready tied them up in 2009.
Meanwhile and earlier in the day, stakeswinning Casino Prince Daughter Longport proved too classy for her rivals winning Heat 6 also over the 800m.
Longport was beaten a neck in the Group 1 ATC Vinery Stakes (2000m) by Norzita, the filly with whom she shared the Group 2 ATC Tea Rose Stakes (1500m) in the 2012 spring.
