EXCITES galloper Red Excitement will be tested around the tight turning Moonee Valley circuit when he tackles the $250,000 MVRC Inglis Banner (1000m) on Saturday.
The Neville Layt trained 2YO showed extraordinary pace on debut in the Breeders’ Plate at Randwick yet was still forced to race deep from his dreadful barrier.
His effort to finish sixth, just 4.1-lens from the winners, was a supreme performance.
Red Excitement has drawn 8 in the field of 14 this weekend which should allow him to find the lead easier than at Randwick.
“Despite being big and immature, he has obvious talent.” Vinery Stud’s Conor Phelan said. “The Valley may be too tight for him but his gate speed might see him through,” .
“He has the race experience out of the Breeders’ Plate and was aimed at this race a while ago.”
Red Excitement is a member of Excites’ second crop and was delivered from Red Ransom mare, Red Obsession, a daughter of stakeswinning filly, Compulsion (ex Bold Promise and a sister to Merlene).
