TOASTING will head to the Inside Information S G.2 in a fortnight after posting an impressive victory.
A head second in the GIII Comely S on Nov. 30, started out 2014 with a third in the Sunshine Millions Distaff Jan. 18.
She was a well beaten eighth in the one-mile Ten Palms S. at this venue Feb. 23 but back on the main track here, the chestnut settled in third well off of the speedy pacesetter R Free Roll, who had daylight on the field. Closing steadily entering the stretch, she overtook the leader late for a convincing victory. Unlimited Budget, heavily favored in this 2014 debut, was a well beaten fourth.
“We knew we had the one horse to beat (Unlimited Budget) and decided to go for it,” said winning trainer Tom Albertrani.
“It was a tough race; it could’ve been a stakes race. She came through and we’re really proud of her race today. She’s the kind of horse that tells you when she’s doing good and that’s why I decided to pull the trigger with her this weekend.
She was training so well and the last race didn’t take much out of her. There’s another race here two weeks from now [the GII Inside Information S. Mar. 22] that we’ll think about if she comes back alright.”
