CHAMPION stallion More Than Ready played the ultimate ‘captain’s knock’ with three Stakes winner’s across three countries including a Gr.1 win victory on a spectacularly successful weekend for Vinery Stallion’s.
Vinery stallions More Than Ready (3), Mossman, Congrats (2) and Testa Rossa all sired Stakes winner’s in the USA, Canada, Singapore and of course here at home in Australia.
More Than Ready added a new Grade 1 winner to his record when Regally Ready lead all the way in the $500,000 Nearctic Stakes (Gr.1 1200m) on turf at Woodbine in Canada.
Bred by Vinery principal Dr Tom Simon and raced by Vinery Stables, Regally Ready is widely regarded as one of the best turf sprinters in the U.S and has now won 8 of his 16 lifetime starts with two seconds and four thirds, earning $670,684.
The 1200m Nearctic Stakes, first of three Grade I stakes on Woodbine’s Canadian International card, forms part of the Breeders’s Cup “Win and You’re In” challenge series. The Nearctic victory guarantees the More Than Ready 4yo a starting berth in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (Gr. 2) on Nov. 5 at Churchill Downs.
Meanwhile in Australia, local racing fans rejoiced at the sight of glamour mare More Joyous’ thrilling win in the Tristarc Stakes (1400m) on Caulfield Cup day – her 16th victory from 21 starts.
Not to be outdone, Australian-bred galloper Better Be The One (More Than Ready/Common Smytzer) was the third Group winner for his sire in as many days when he proved too good for his rivals in the Group 3 $200,000 Saas Fee Stakes over 1400m on Sunday in Singapore clocking a record breaking 1.22.42s.
Back in Australia, Mossman stallion Love Conquers All did exactly that with an authoritative win in the Group 3 Moonga (1400m) for the Hawkes/Beadman combination. The Nick Moratis owned galloper will be aimed for a break through Gr.1 victory in the Emirates Stakes on Derby Day after finishing second in the George Ryder Stakes Gr.1, Doncaster Handicap Gr.1 and Doomben 10,000 Gr.1 last preparation.
