CASINO PRINCE son Casino Swoop gave his rivals a lesson in sustained speed when blazing away to an easy 3.5-length win in the ATC Canterbury Park Handicap (1200m) in Sydney on Wednesday and the Champion Sire looks set for more success at Flemington.
One hundred times Group 1 winning jockey Jim Cassidy made full use of the gelding’s uncommon pace to fire over from his outside alley to set up a big lead on his opponents and maintain his break to record his second win from his past three outings.
Casino Prince is one of 81 winners by his Group 1 winning sire whose premium runners include the champion galloper and four times G1 hero All Too Hard who served a phenomenal book of mares in his opening season at Vinery last spring.
Casino Prince stakeswinner Star Rolling will take on the cream of Australasia’s weight-for-age horses in tomorrow’s $1m Group 1 Australian Cup (2000m) while the stallion’s Group 1 SAJC Derby winner Escado opens his autumn campaign in the Listed VRC Super Saturday Stakes (1400m) later in the day.
Prior to them both, Cox Plate winning trainer Colin Little will saddle up the promising Casino Prince 2YO Domino Vitale in the $222,000 Group 2 VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m).
The filly made up a stack of ground over 900m at Sandown last month to finish third indicating that the added distance is bound to be in her favour.
More so given that her second dam, the appropriately named Oaks Day is by Twig Moss and was runner-up in the 1993 VRC Oaks behind Newhaven Park filly Arborea.
