MICK Price is quietly confident that the real Dubleanny will show herself when she steps out in Caulfield’s Sprint Series Final (1200m) tomorrow.

 

A winner of nine races from 18 starts so far, Dubleanny has finished midfield at her two opening runs this campaign both at Group 3 level.

The daughter of Dubleo drops back to Listed class on Saturday, a level at which where she has already won three times.

 

“I gave her the benefit of the doubt on her Bobbie Lewis run but I thought there was enough information there to not run in the Rupert Clarke – which I think proved right,” Price said.

“Then we drew 14 out of 16 (started from barrier 12 of 14) in the How Now Stakes and I thought that her run lacked something.

“I didn’t think she hit the line as hard as she has the past.

“But since then she’s had a freshen-up and Craig Newitt rode her here at Caulfield on Tuesday morning and said he felt she worked like the Dubleanny of old.

 

“Barrier 10 of 16 is not too bad because there will be a bit of tempo on,” says Price,“the other day we chose not to go forward – but what to do from that gate – this time, she should get a nice run in the race and gets her chance to hit the line and run in the first three.”

 

Price has done a superb job with Dubleanny who has not only won over $550,000 for owners Vinery Stud and the Newstead Syndicate who bought her for $65,000 at the Magic Millions Yearling sale in 2008.

 

“She’s won three Listed races and is Group 2 placed, so you would like to nail a Group race even though she is still a valuable broodmare and a nice mare to breed from,” Price told us.

“I’d like to breeding from her, I know that!.”

 

Dubleo recently clocked up his 50th individual winner in Australia from just 79 starters reflecting a quite substantial 63.3 percent winners to runners.

Apart from Vinery’s multiple stakeswinning chestnut Dubleanny, Dubleo is also responsible for the stakes-placed 3YO Queenian, several metropolitan winners as well as Matthew Smith’s smart galloper, Cool Maverick, who is aiming for his third straight win when he steps out at Nowra tomorrow afternoon.
