Butterfly Kiss continued a buoyant week for her sire Myboycharlie with a well-deserved victory at Ascot on Wednesday whilst Mo Gasur won her trial impressively on Monday.
The Colin Webster trained filly Butterfly Kiss hasn’t finished further back than fifth since her latest preparation began in October. The breakthrough came after she repelled a late charge from L’Rondine to win the Skyy Vodka Hcp (1100m).
“She was beaten by a pretty good one (Foxalicious) last time,” Webster said. “She’s so honest and is going out for a decent spell now. She’s got some growing to do and will develop into a nice filly later this year.”
Butterfly Kiss (3f Myboycharlie – Lip Pencil by Zeditave) is the first foal of a half-sister to G3 AJC Liverpool City Cup Catatonic. Her dam was sold in foal to Myboycharlie for $22,500 at the 2010 Inglis Easter Broodmare Sale.
Vinery sire Myboycharlie has another coming winner in Perth named Mo Gasur. The Trevor Andrews trained filly won a Belmont trial on Monday. She hasn’t been seen in public this season but was placed on debut at Ascot twelve months ago.
Myboycharlie sired last Saturday’s $250,000 Inglis 2YO Classic winner Peggy Jean and then finished in the Top 5 on the Classic Sale leader-board with 8 yearlings averaging $51,625.
The next Myboycharlie yearlings for sale are at the Perth Magic Millions on February 18 and 19. The colt from Bold Joy (Lot 24) is a half-brother to LR Boulder Cup winner Reverend Lovejoy and the filly out of Miss Sultry Song (Lot 113) is from a half-sister to Group 1 miler Mentality.
