A HALF-BROTHER to Chris Waller’s Group 3 winner Catkins by Vinery owned sire Husson sold for $140,000 at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale which wound up on January 12 on the Gold Coast.
The colt was offered by Brian Nutt’s Attunga Stud at Scone and knocked down to Mr C C Lai after some spirited competition around the sale ring.
One other Husson that found favour with buyers was Lot 697, a chestnut colt out of Silken Spur.
Brought to sale by Queensland nursery Noralla Stud, the colt was snapped up by Snowden Racing which is the newly formed partnership between former Darley head trainer Peter Snowden and his son Paul.
The 2013/14 season has been another successful period for Husson thanks in part to the efforts of stakeswinners Lucky Hussler and Peron.
Husson, an unbeaten champion in his home country, was the ranked 2nd to Vinery associate sire Casino Prince on the First and Second Season Sire tables in 2011/12 and 12/13.
Husson sired more 2YO winners than any other stallion in Australia in his first season including his first Australian runner; Hussousa, who won the Gimcrack Stakes.
