YOUNG Vinery Stud resident sire Onemorenomore’s full-brother Derwent ticked off his debut win with a comfortable victory in South Australia during the week.
The Tony McEvoy-trained 3yo colt started $1.60 in the 1500m maiden and gave his backers no cause for concern cruising down to the line with a handy 1.8-lens margin.
Derwent races in the colours of his owner/breeder, Cressfield Stud, who bred Onemorenomore at their boutique Scone nursery before selling him at the 2008 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling for $800,000.
Onemorenomore (by Red Ransom ex Palia) defeated Manhattan Rain and Tickets by 4-lens to win the Group 1 AJC Champagne Strakes (1600m) at Randwick.
He was also placed third (as a 3YO) in the weight-for-age Group 1 AJC George Main Stakes (1600m) and fourth in the AJC Sire’s Produce Stakes (1400m) and has his first crop of 2yo’s hitting the track this season.
