CONGRATS’ number of stakeswinners has grown to ten in quick time as the Kentucky-based two-year-old Coastal Sunrise ran her rivals of their feet to take out the Xtra Heat Stakes in the USA on the weekend.
Coastal Sunrise’s Delaware triumph was her third win in just four starts, this one coming by a comprehensive 1 1/4-lens in a time of 1:11.65 for the six furlongs (abt 1209m).
A former Champion USA First Season Sire, Congrats, is delivering winners on an incredibly frequent basis; so much so that his tally of 120 individual winners has come from just 157 runners giving him a fabulous 76.4 percent winners to runners.
Coastal Sunrise is a member of Congrats smaller third crop which already boasts the Gr.1 placed 2yo Toasting which runs later this weekend.
Coastal Sunrise was a debut winner at Hoosier Aug. 1, but failed to follow up at second asking when a well-beaten fourth on the Presque Isle Polytrack Sept. 11.
She bounced back on her return to Hoosier in late September winning by 10 lengths in brilliant fashion aomngst optional-claiming company.
Jumping well and heading straight to the front, the 3-1 second choice set swift fractions while nursing a one length lead.
Kicking clear at the quarter pole, Coastal Sunrise held off a late charge from Carry the Torch to earn her first stakes victory.
Congrats’, already the sire of three Grade One winners, is in line for a career highlight next week when flag bearer Turbulent Descent lines up as one of the favourites in the Breeders’ Cup F & M at Santa Anita.
Turbulent Descent is the winner if 8 of her 13 starts including four Grade 1 races, of those at Santa Anita in the Oaks.
She was also named the Equal leading 3YO Filly on the 2011 WTR rankings in the sprint category.
