Myboycharlie colt Charlie Boy delivered an eye catching trial win at Rosehill this morning prior to resuming in the G2 Silver Slipper Stakes next month.
Charlie Boy followed up an impressive jump-out last Tuesday with a similarly encouraging trial win at Rosehill this morning over 900m in a time of 53.8secs.
“He trialled very impressively which was good to see,” Triple Crown Syndications’ Chris Ward said.
“He jumped okay and then showed good early speed to take up the lead pretty quickly and that was where he stayed.
“He showed a really good turn of foot in the straight and went on to win it by about 3.5 lengths in a smart time of 53.8.
“Glyn [Schofield] was really pleased with him and said he has taken another step forward since his race debut last preparation.
“Hopefully everything is on track.”
Connections presently are looking to resume Charlie Boy in the Group 2 Silver Slipper Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill on March 2 as they plot a path towards the Group 1 Golden Slipper the following month.
“We will work it out as we go but we are probably thinking Silver Slipper, then the Todman and then into the Golden Slipper,” Ward said.
Charlie Boy initially burst onto the scene with a solid debut victory over 1100m at Rosehill last November where once focused on his task, showed good acceleration over the concluding stages.
“There is a lot of upside there,” Ward said.
“He is a very impressive individual.”
The Myboycharlie colt currently shares the fifth line of betting in early markets for the Group 1 Golden Slipper at Rosehill on April 6 (1200m), quoted at $17 with TAB Sportsbet Fixed Odds alongside the Peter Snowden duo of Metastasio and Safeguard.
