BREEDERS long term mating plans for their More Than Ready mares have become a little easier to devise given the emerging balance between A.P Indy and Vinery’s flagship sire.
One of the best fillies in the USA this season is Kauai Katie, a daughter of Malibu Moon (by A.P Indy) out of More Than Pretty, one of More Than Ready’s 105 individual stakeswinners.
Kauai Katie has won 3 from 3 by a combined margin of more than 21-lens.
She broke her maiden by 12-lens and has since added the Grade 2 Matron Stakes by an effortless 7.5-lens at odds of 1-5 on.
Interestingly, the filly is trained by Todd Pletcher who has a string of Vinery connections himself given that he trained More Than Ready, his Breeders’ Cup winning son Pluck and recently took over the reigns of Congrats’ four-times Grade 1 winner, Turbulent Descent.
“More Than Ready is a very young stage as a broodmare sire but to see one as good as Kauai Katie come along and be by an A.P Indy son, we are doubly pleased given that we have one of his best sire sons (Congrats) here at Vinery,” the Stud’s Conor Phelan said.
