BIG Brown was denied his seventh individual 2YO winner when Miss Lucky Stevens crossed the line first at Arlington overnight only to have the event declared a no race.
Stewards had no other option than the void the result after most of the field were badly hampered when the inside running rail tore threw on the bend.
While Miss Lucky Stevens careered away to win, several of those behind her limped across the line – but thankfully no horse or rider were injured.
“It appeared there was a very small gap in the turf rail on the far turn,” stewards reported.
“A horse brushed the rail at that exact spot that caused several sections of the rail to come apart, landing on the course.
“Several horses either had to jump or otherwise try to avoid the rail and as a result we had to declare the race a no contest.”

Big Brown has made an awesome beginning to his stud career with six individual winners led by the stakeswinner Brown Almighty who is being aimed towards the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile in November.
Jockey Chris Emigh said the following on his Facebook page: “Praise God nobody got hurt! That was me sitting 2nd with so much horse left when the rail, had separated and was sticking out a foot, was struck by the horse right behind two leaders in 3rd. It shoved the fence forward and made a shockwave and separated and flew across entire length of track! My horse and Cisco’s kept tripping over it cuz it was rolling forward with us. That’s why I don’t steeplechase!! Lol”
