AUSTRALIAN racing and breeding fans will get their first taste of high class USA sire Tapit this weekend when the Mick Price trained filly La Ballerine makes her debut in the Group 3 MRC Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m) at Caulfield.
Foaled in 2001, Tapit is a son of the recently deceased Pulpit and a close relation to Vinery Stud resident Dubleo who will be represented at Caulfield later in the day by Bellmaine Stakes hopeful Koonoomoo.
Tapit regularly features near the top of the USA General Lists and commands a US$125,000 service fee at the famed Gainesway Farm in Kentucky.
La Ballerine was conceived southern hemisphere time in the USA and is a daughter of the Jade Hunter mare, Jade .
Price’s filly carries a double cross of Nijinsky and is from the same family as the remarkable mare Whakilyric whose offspring include Hernando, Johan Quatz, Res Judicata, Walter Willy and Adnaan.
